Freedom In Christ Church
Answered Prayers
My wife and I had been praying for our son, John, that he would follow God's heart in his vocations. John is married to a fine Christian girl and has a beautiful one year old daughter.

We and his 3 sisters thought it strange when he wanted to quit a good job and go out to California to seek an acting career. He told us about this plan a couple of months before he left on December 26, 2006. My wife and I went to prayer, asking the Lord to bring this to nothing if it was not of Him. In our spirits we could not get use to the idea, unrest. John felt he was in the Lord's will. Every day, sometimes all day long it was on our minds. We would take it to God. The Lord reminded us audibly on one particular day that He was faithful.

From the time of John's birth and before, we confessed the Word over him, that he was a prophet for the Lord to the nations. He realized when he was a teen that he had a calling on his life. Could this be it? But why the unrest in his family's heart?

John arrived in Los Angeles and received many small acting positions. He'd e-mailed us and said how he loved it at there; we would go to prayer. Our family knew that a Hedge of Protection was around him. Our prayers became specific, "bring him home."

On Saturday, March 31, early AM, my wife answered the phone it was John saying that in one hour he would be crossing the border of California and coming home. He had received an e-mail from Sight and Sound to audition for the “Psalms of David” and the Christmas show. He drove 43 hours straight without sleep. John arrived home in St. Thomas, late Sunday night, April 1st. It was my wife's birthday. What a present! Praise Him. John did not get tired traveling. He beat a severe storm that followed up through Texas to Ohio. Going to California, however, he was stopped for awhile by 30-inches of snow in New Mexico.

We thank you, LORD, for perfecting this calling in his life.

In the Lord,
Fred and Family

There are two divisions at my place of employment, morning drivers and afternoon drivers. I have worked the 2:30 pm shift for 2 years, and I enjoy this shift very much.
Presently our company is in the process of moving from a 6 day schedule to a 7 day schedule, which means there is no guarantee I will be able to remain on the shift that I enjoy working and being with my co-workers.
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." I made a decision to believe and stand on this scripture and because the Lord is faithful. I started immediately to praise Him and thank Him for this desire of my heart. I did not even look at the other options that were available to me.
At times the enemy would enter my mind giving me thoughts of this being impossible and worrisome thoughts would set in. I knew it was time to focus on the Word again and I Peter 5:7 “Casting all my care upon Him; for he careth for me.” And Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep me in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because I trusteth in Thee.” Then I caught myself not walking in love and I asked the Lord to forgive me and wanted to get back in love ( Gal 5:6 "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love." )
The day came to put our bids in, the senior drivers had first choice. I was the last to bid for the 2:30 shift which I prayed for and believed I would receive.
Praise God! Not only did the Lord answer my prayer, but all my co-workers stayed on the same shift. Truly the Lord did show Himself strong. Pastor John has taught us that faith is believing you receive, giving praise to the Lord, and walk in love. Because faith works by love.
I have learned when I make a mistake, I immediately repent, get back up and fight the good fight of faith.
Thank you Pastor John for teaching us the incorruptible Word of God.

---------------------------------

On July 4th, I was taking my dog for her morning walk. Dave is usually the one who takes her for a walk but I give him a break from it on Saturdays and whenever I am off work. I walk her and have walked her in the alley (Neff Avenue) behind our house, since she was a puppy. There was nothing unusual about this day – I go across South Queen Street, down to Hollar Avenue and turn around and come back.
This day, however, proved to be entirely out of the ordinary. I crossed Queen Street and started down the alley. Beside me on the right, there is a big hedge that you can’t see over but there is a gap in the hedge big enough for someone to walk through. I know that there are (2) dogs that are kept in a caged-in area two yards over. I heard the dogs barking but that isn’t unusual for I glanced in the yard as I walked by the hedge. What I saw totally took me by surprise and alarmed me at the same time. The dogs that are normally kept in a cage, were outside the caged-in area with a lady walking with them. I saw the black dog turn and just that quickly started racing across the yards at us, snarling. I couldn’t even think nor did I have much time to react. I turned Kylie around but that is as far as I got before they reached us and Kylie and the black dog started to snarl and the black dog lunged at Kylie, snapping at her and kept coming at her. The lady that had the dogs out called the dog back into the yard and in that instant I grabbed up Kylie, (who weighs 30 lbs) turned around and started to run out of the alley. At the same time I did this, I could see the black dog turning back around and came back out of the yard and started after me. I turned to see the dog right behind me. It jumped at me and caught my shorts in its teeth and raked its teeth down my leg. Kylie, who saw this dog coming back, started up over my shoulder to try to get this dog. The lady that had brought the dogs outside was standing behind me. She had another dog with her (this one on collar and leash). She was staring at the dog but doing nothing. Just to look at her, she was afraid and didn’t seem to know what to do.
At this point, I am crying, bleeding, and asking her to please get her dog. She still did nothing. I looked up to the sky and said, “Please, help me.” As I said this, the dog left go of my shorts, turned around, and went back in the yard. It went back in the yard on its own, followed the lady across the yard and I assume that she put the dogs in their cage as I didn’t stand there to find out.
As I came out of the alley, there was a lady standing a few feet from me who came running up and asked me what happened. I told her what had happened. She told me that she was the chaplain from the Court House across the street and that she was going to pray for me for peace over the situation. I told her that I believed in the power of prayer and that I believe that God had put her in the place at that very moment in time. My God, who tells me that He is never far from me had supplied what I needed at just the right moment. However, this is not all that happened.
A policeman was driving by and had heard the dogs snarling. He watched in his mirror and as I came around the corner of the alley with Kylie in my hands, he knew that something was drastically wrong. He immediately turned around and came back there where I was standing. All this happened in about 5 to 10 minutes time. He took the information and went to the house where the dogs are located. He talked to the lady who was taking care of the dogs. As it turned out, she wasn’t the owner of the dogs, she was just house/dog sitting. While he was doing that, I was wiping the blood off my face and hands and was checking out Kylie as I thought that she was hurt. It turns out, all the blood was from my face as when my dog tried to climb over me, she scratched my nose. When she hit my nose, she gave me a bloody nose.
The policeman told me to walk Kylie home and took my address and he met me there.
He took pictures of my shorts and my leg and had guaranteed me that he would call the owner of the dog (while they were on vacation) and find out if the dog had its rabies shots as the dog had no collar and no tags. He told me also that they would be cited for not having their dog under control and that I was to take my dog to the vet and myself to the doctors to get checked out. As it was July 4th, no vet was in but I did have one call me back and told me to keep an eye on my dog and if anything was the matter to contact him. Also, there were no doctors in their office on July 4th. I had decided at that very moment, that I wasn’t going to let this take away from the plans that I had made with my family. This was a time that we always share together and I was going.
I did, however, go to the doctors the following morning and decided that even though Kylie didn’t appear to be hurt, that I was taking her to the vet to be sure. I missed almost 4 hours of work on July 5th. I was a bit concerned about this but I was soon to find out that I didn’t need to be as Dave called me at work and told me that when he got to the store that morning, the District Justice was waiting for him as he had a problem with his vacuum. He questioned him about being able to collect my lost hours at work, and he told Dave that all I needed to do was get a paper signed by my Human Resources person to verify my time off and amount paid and they would add it to the fine that the owners would have to pay.
I had many scratches and ugly looking bruises that came from my own dog trying to protect me. My muscles hurt all over. I had a rip in my shorts and (2) fang marks on the back of my leg from the other dog which turned out to be a Rottweiler. Otherwise, I was perfectly okay and so was my dog. The worst I had to do was get a tetanus shot.
I walk by faith and not by sight and I know that God is omnipresent – always with me. When I cry out to Him, He always hears. I love my God and I know that when He gave me Jesus, and Jesus bore the stripes on His back, when He went to the cross, died, went to Hell, and rose again to sit beside the Father, that I would have all that I will ever need in my life and because I will serve only Him. All I had to do was cry out and all I needed was right there for me.
Amazing Grace from and amazing God – Hallelujah!!

In Christ Alone,
Debbie
